Dragster and Funny Car Memories

Drag Racing's greatest decade - the 1960's! More changes and experimentations were made in the sport during this decade than any other. Dragster speeds increased by 29% in those ten years, while the following thirty years saw a 36% increase for three decades.

The Sixties also saw the invention of the flopper style Funny Car, a technology in car style that is still in use today. Professional drag racing began in the 1960's and started on the way to become the huge success it is today.

Dragster and Funny Car Memories is the third 1960's drag racing book in the series. It tells, and shows with over 400 photos, of how it was in the "good old days" of drag racing in Southern California. Virtually all of the country's best performing Dragster and Funny Car racers came to race at Southern California local strips including LIONS, Irwindale, Orange County International Raceway, Bakersfield, San Gabriel, Pomona, San Fernando, Carlsbad, San Diego, Riverside, Fontana and Inyokern.. Relive some of the memories of the Sixties drag racing, the development of the Funny Car and the evolution of a professional sport.

This book proceeds throught the years from 1960 to 1969 showing many of the Dragsters and Funny Cars in competition and the terrific progress made in the sport during the 1960's. Elapsed Times went from a top time of 8.5 sec. to ET's in the 6.7 area. Top speed figures increased from about 185 mph to 238 mpg. Dragster and Funny Car Memories shows some of the major accomplishments in the sport in the 1960's.
